ECEPC welcomes new board members

At this summer’s Essex County Estate Planning Council annual dinner, the members of the Council elected three new members to join our dedicated Board of Directors for the 2016-2017 membership season, which will kick off tomorrow, Aug. 17, at a networking event at the new Beauport Hotel in Gloucester.

Bob Clark, Janney Montgomery Scott, LLC

Bob Clark

Bob received a BS in Business Administration from Villanova University and an MBA in International Finance from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.  He is a Certified Financial Planner™, a Certified Investment Management Analyst™ and a Certified Private Wealth Advisor™.

Bob and his team are focused on the next phase of wealth management: working with families to enhance the legacy of wealth creators by preparing heirs to receive and manage wealth. While Bob’s firm focuses on empowering future generations, traditional wealth management topics such as retirement planning, asset allocation, investing and investment manager selection remain critical components of our process for helping families succeed, generation after generation.

Bob also looks forward to contributing to the future success of the Council.

“It is a privilege to be an ECEPC board member,” said Bob. “As part of the board, I hope to help the council provide meaningful educational programs and networking opportunities, so that the council remains a valuable assets for all members.”

Lou Pereira, Merrimack Business Appraisers, LLC

Lou Pereira

Lou Pereira is a Certified Business Appraiser that works with people to solve their problems relating to ownership interests in privately held companies. He specializes in business valuations for tax filings (such as gifting, estate, and employment related issues) and resolving shareholder disputes, including divorce cases. Clients come to him when they need a credible opinion of value to win their case.

Lou has over 25 years of relevant business valuation experience, including 12 years in corporate mergers and acquisitions, and 13 years in private practice.  Lou earned an MBA and holds CBA, ASA, CBI, and CVA credentials.  He is President of Merrimack Business Appraisers and the Herold-Lambert Group.  Lou is a faculty member of the AICPA, teaches degree-credited courses in Accounting and Finance at the university level and testified as a business valuation expert in multiple venues. He is an active member of the Board of Directors of the New England Business Brokers Association, a member of the Board of Governors of the IBA as well as a course instructor for the International Business Brokers Association.

“I am excited to be part of this dynamic organization, and look forward to contributing to the Board in any way possible,” said Lou.

Jean Trim, Vigilant Capital Management

Jean Trim

Jean serves clients as a portfolio manager. Prior to joining Vigilant, Jean spent 18 years at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management in Boston. For 11 of those years, Jean was a senior vice president and portfolio manager, working exclusively with high net worth individuals and families.

Jean earned her MBA from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University and a BS in Finance with a minor in Political Science from Merrimack College. Jean is a current member of the Town of West Newbury Investment Policy Committee, the Merrimack Valley Estate Planning Council and she sits on the Corporator Boards of Anna Jacques Hospital and Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank. Jean also sits on the Finance Committee for the Anna Jacques Hospital Foundation.

“I believe when you join an organization, you should try to make as much of an impact as you can so joining the board just makes sense to me in order to serve the council,” said Jean. “Specifically, I will be looking to enhance the council’s membership roster in the coming year. I have been impressed with the caliber of devoted members of the council and look forward to collaborating with my fellow members.”

Jean lives in West Newbury with her husband, Chris, their daughter, Sarah, and their sons, Austin and Robert.
