On July 30, the Essex County Estate Planning Council held a summer networking event to help kick off the 2015-2016 membership year.
Carroll K. Steele Insurance Agency Inc., a well-respected Cape Ann business that offers personal and business insurance products, sponsored the event, which was held in scenic Gloucester at Cape Ann Savings, Trust & Financial Services, a longtime supporter of the ECEPC and sponsor of the organization’s recent Annual Dinner.
At the networking event, nearly 30 Council members enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks and mingled with fellow estate planning professionals. Cape Ann Photography was also on hand to take professional headshots for members.
“This was a great way to kick off the upcoming membership year,” said Ed Cahill, ECEPC president. “We are grateful that companies such as Carroll Steele and Cape Ann Savings step up to support these events that are such a great benefit for our members.”
In addition to its educational meetings, the ECEPC organizes periodic networking events to allow new Council members to introduce themselves to their peers and longtime members to reconnect with friends and acquaintances in the business.
“In the age of social media, these networking events give our members a chance to chat face to face,” said Cahill. “It’s a way for them to exchange ideas and make connections in a casual, unstructured atmosphere.”
It’s also a great way for prospective members to mingle and find out more about the organization. Members of the ECEPC program committee, which include Cahill, Erin Cooper, Terasa Marshall and Stephen Mooney, are working to finalize the event schedule for the upcoming year, and are pleased with the turnout at the season’s first event.
“The networking event went really well,” said Cooper. “It was well attended and it was great seeing some new faces.”
She added that the headshot photography was a great add-on to the event, calling Cape Ann Photography’s staff easy to work with and very professional.
“We want members to know that they can look forward to many more great events this year,” said Cahill.
